IFF President Sympathizes with Kaduna Train Attack Victims
The President of the International Family Foundation (IFF), Prof. Emeka Oguize has condemned the dastardly attack on innocent people along the Kaduna-Abuja rail line. Speaking to Newsmen at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja yesterday; the IFF President also sympathized with the victims of the attack, especially those families who lost their loved ones. He attributed the attack to the alarming levels of moral decay and decadence in family units across the entire nation, which is culminating into societal malaise.
“The long and continuous deviation from traditional family values, principles and morality is the root cause of such negative anti-social behaviour and desperation. How can anyone derive any pleasure from maiming and killing other people?”– He queried.
As a pre-emptive measure he called in the Government, especially the Honorable Minister for Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, to push for establishment of a Railway Safely Surveillance Service, that will be responsible for monitoring and protecting the railways in the country, using manpower and technology.
He observed that the International Family Foundation has members and volunteers with the requisite knowledge and expertise to support the Government in establishment of the Railway Safely Surveillance Service to protect railway users and infrastructure in Nigeria.
“These key national assets, built up from foreign loans, are very critical to the development and systematic progress of the country and must remain easily accessible to Nigerians without any fear or hinderance”.
While in Abuja, the IFF President will meet with the Northeast Coordinator of the Foundation, Dr. Edoja Ukwedeh and other IFF Abuja Chapter Officials, to review their plans and preparations towards hosting the Foundation’s International Conference this May 2022, with the theme: FOOD SECURITY AND THE FAMILY: IMPACTS, PROSPECTS AND NEW VISTAS.
This upcoming conference brings to the fore, one of the core mandates of the International Family Foundation (IFF); to expose and address the issues of Endemic Poverty Within Families, while providing a framework for continued advocacy on other issues that find expression in attitudes that promote moral decay and decadence in family units. This is consonance with the declarations of the United Nations charter on the Family.
